Venu,
I would use a standard A3 report format. YOu can find a decent example here http://www.shmula.com/363/the-toyota-a3-report although you will need to put it into ppt format. HTH |

Venu, could you explain what kind of Lean you're talking about. I've talked to people who did some 5S and claimed to be a Lean organisation
![]() Anyway depending on what you're executng in Lean you should have your reporting. Is it the whole Lean system or are it parts of it. Happy to assist you in any way, let me know. BR, Marco

Hi Macro,
For me Lean is without 5S. I bucket projects under different categories like Just do it (Suggestions),5S, Lean, 7QC, GB, BB, DFSS, TPM. According to my understanding and experience I have categorized the below under lean Push/Pull Systems Bottlenecks Elimination SMED/Cycle Times Improvement/VSM Physical Layout Improvement Mistake Proofing JIT Waste Elimination Automation (Linked to waste elimination also). Since any of these can fall under Lean, I want to develop a PPT template for developing the story boards so that we can document the same in an order. I know that there are constraints, as all of the above follow different approaches, but my question is I want to put in a template with approach built into it so that when one employee wants to do a project of let us say cycle times improvement, the PPT template should guide him. For me PPT template should be like a SOP so that my help/mentoring is minimal. Just a thought.

Hi Venu,
I don't think we have a template of this sort available on our site. But I think if you already planning to make one (if you cannot find it elsewhere), it would be a huge contribution to this community if you share it with everyone here.

I did understand you want a template about the progress of projects falling under the Lean umbrella.. Perhaps, Venu, you can create these kind of templates with some of the community members? Let me know if you need some assistance. BR, Marco

Venu
An A3 would do exactly what you need, as a good A3 is a live document that changes over the project lifecycle and should have all the relevant imformation on it. The best one I have ever seen was from Toyota and was with the development of a new manufacturing site, costs, business case, plan everything on one A3 - brilliant!! If however you want a template for lean tools and techniques there are ones out there and I have several which I can share. In terms of the A3 though there are many types normally 9 box and also a reduced version called 5 box, the 5 box is a reporting tool to show status updates - nothing special though but the idea is that you can convey everything you need to on a project within 60 seconds - I used to do 49 projects in 60 mins :-) rgds Darren |
